Review of Time is Gravity

June 10, 2010 6:17 am

We recently discovered another glowing review of our first EP from Knocks from the Underground, comparing us to a band of warriors in a Super Nintendo game, saying “These guys are a spectacular combination of artists,” and generally making us feel warm all over. Give it a read. Time is Gravity is available at the Ghost Ghost store, and everywhere else.

“Natalie Merchant, Ghost Ghost: setting poems to music”

April 21, 2010 8:34 am

Turns out we’re the kids hanging at the library: School Library Journal just ran an article on No Clothes On Ragged Island, ten songs about the life of Edna St. Vincent Millay. We hope that our place on that page next to Natalie Merchant doesn’t violate Ms. Merchant’s restraining order against us. The article also gives props to our friends over at the RPM Challenge, which was the project that gave us the crazy idea to write ten songs in a day.

Gotta Groove Spotlight

April 13, 2010 6:59 am

Gotta Groove Records just ran a feature on us! We got to talk about why we put out a vinyl record, and what makes our vinyl record different from most records out there. In particular, we mention a little fact about our record that makes it very special: each side of the record ends in a lock-groove.  From the interview: “Those are loops with music in them that will hold the needle and keep the record playing indefinitely. We love that idea and the way it came out, because it represents something that actually can’t be done on a CD or MP3.” Read more at Wikipedia, under unusual types of gramophone records. Pick up your own copy of the vinyl for Of Innocence and Experience at our new store.

Two new records! New store!

March 5, 2010 5:00 am

Check out our brand new online store at store.ghostghost.net to hear our two brand new records: the long awaited second EP, Of Innocence and Experience (with a beautiful watercolor album cover by Charlie Kemmerer), and the came-out-of-nowhere full length album No Clothes on Ragged Island (written in one day and recorded in one week). You can listen to any of our albums on the store site, download them in any format you like, and even read the lyrics and liner notes. Our first pressing of vinyl is happening today, so we are also taking pre-orders of the limited edition colored vinyl at the store!

No Clothes on Ragged Island

February 22, 2010 4:39 pm

Happy birthday Edna St. Vincent Millay, we made you an album: http://bit.ly/ghostghostrpm . The album title is No Clothes on Ragged Island, and each of the ten songs is inspired by a scene from the poet’s life.  The songs were written by Kevin and Karl, five songs each, in about 24 hours as part of the RPM Challenge. These are the rough demo recordings made yesterday. A more finished version is in the works, and due by the end of the week–no, seriously, we have to turn them in on March 1.  Complete lyrics and chords for all songs are also online at http://bit.ly/ckIsLk .
