Ghost Ghost’s most recent release, No Clothes on Ragged Island, is a concept album about the life of poet Edna St. Vincent Millay, recorded in one day, the soothing guitar work and earnestly sweet vocals belie the ominous lyrics. Tragedy and heartbreak lurk around every corner, and, it seems to Ghost Ghost, the best thing to do is keep a shaking smile on their lips as they tread out into the unknown darkness.

Guitar gear site Effects Bay is running an article about Karl’s guitar effects pedalboard. A little known fact about Karl’s pedalboard: it was the inspiration behind Dwight Yoakum’s song “Guitars, Cadillacs, Soldering Irons and Hillbilly Music.“

British music blog The 405 asked Kevin to write about his favorite album, and you can read his article at The 405′s What We Talk About When We Talk Music. Kevin wrote a heartfelt piece about the album Key Lime Pie by Camper Van Beethoven. About how he came to purchase the album with his lunch money way back in elementary school: “It was probably a year or more before I was finally able to track down and purchase the album. I found it in a a little record shop in Montreal on a class field trip. I don’t remember how my friend and I were able to slip away from the group, but I think we convinced one of the younger chaperones – someone’s older sister, or maybe it was the art teacher who was obsessed with the Talking Heads – to ditch the tour of the Olympic Tower and take us downtown to find a music shop.” That’s Love.

Art Star AKA Alice Tragedy just wrote a review of No Clothes on Ragged Island. You can read it at http://www.alicetragedy.org/blog/?p=3712 . Ms. Tragedy writes, for instance:

“Less freak-folk than some of their other works, this record is easy on the ear, with lines that will get stuck in your head for days on end. On the track Bizarre Love Triangle, words become rhythm, lines become rhymes: pure Dylan-songwriting, lacking the over-the-top irony.”

The new music blog Bandsoup just wrote a stunning review of No Clothes on Ragged Island.
