Guest DJ spot on WRMC

April 25, 2009 3:30 am

Saturday, 4/25/2009, from 2 PM to 3:30 PM: Bente Madson invited us to guest DJ on her Herd radio show on WRMC.  Herd is a show drawn from bands with animal names, so we got to play a ton of great music.  Here’s our playlist:

  1.  Animal Collective, “Chocolate Girl”
  2. Glenn Kotche, “Monkey Chant”
  3. The Mountain Goats, “Anti-music Song”
  4. The Beatles, “A Little Help From My Friends”
  5. The Eagles, “One of These Nights”
  6. Panda Bear, “Bros”
  7. Mogwai, “I’m Jim Morrison, I’m Dead”
  8. Fugazi, “Turnover”
  9. Ciccone Youth, “Burnin’ Up”
  10. Eagles of Death Metal, “WannaBe in L.A.”
  11. Dead Horse, “Rock Lobster”
  12. Panda Bear, “Young Prayer 1″
  13. David Byrne + Brian Eno, “Help Me Somebody”
  14. Led Zeppelin, “In the Light”

Everyone knows that a fugazi is a bird with a peculiar call that sounds like “GET ME OUT OF HERE!”  Also, we refuse to apologize for playing Glenn Kotche, David Byrne + Brian Eno, or Led Zeppelin. It had to be done.  Mission accomplished.

Another late night set at The Mill

April 19, 2009 4:29 am

The Sepomana dance party at The Bunker closed out the Sepomana 2009 festivities, but it didn’t close out our rage through Middlebury College.  We just played another late night set at The Mill, where we had such a great time playing last night.  Thanks so much to Ernest Russell from WRMC 91.1 FM for inviting us to do these late sets where we get to stretch out and play for the kids.  Tonight was special for us, because a dance party erupted during our extended jam on Kevin’s song “Spoon.”  There’s nothing quite like seeing a room of people dancing to your jams.  I think Kenny Rogers first said that.
