Total Control Now

January 20, 2009 8:26 am

Earlier this month, we wrote and recorded a new song in a week. The song is called “Total Control Now,”  in honor of our country’s sea-change. It’s a song about waking up from a nightmare, putting it behind you, and going out into the world.  Alternately, it’s also a breakup song about the world’s worst President/girlfriend. You can download or listen to it by clicking here. The song derives much inspiration from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas:

Turn up the radio. Turn up the tape machine. Look into the sunset up ahead. Roll the windows down for a better taste of the cool desert wind. Ah yes. This is what it’s all about. Total control now. Tooling along the main drag on a Saturday night in Las Vegas, two good old boys in a fireapple-red convertible . . . stoned, ripped, twisted . . . Good People.

Happy Birthday Ghost Ghost

January 15, 2009 6:48 pm

ghost-ghost-birthday-2009Today is Ghost Ghost’s first birthday. I remember that first day at the practice space like it was yesterday.  Tim came into the practice space wearing gold sneakers. Kevin came in via helicopter, his usual entrance. Johnny Depp was there, but he’s always there. Wait a minute, I don’t remember that day at all.

Anyway, thanks for listening to our music. We’ve got a hell of a lot planned for 2009; in fact, Kevin has decreed that Ghost Ghost will make 2009 say “uncle”, and the year will end on November 30. You can do whatever you want with that extra month, it’s on us.

St. Valentine’s Day Massacre show

5:55 pm

Save the date! We’re playing on Valentine’s Day! Saturday night, February 14th, at Lit Lounge. This shouldn’t surprise folks, given that we acquired Valentine’s Day shortly after the recent financial collapse. We’ll send more details as the show gets closer. Mark your calendar. Bring your date. Bring that girl/guy who also hates the greeting card holidays. Lit Lounge has make-out spots.  I’m just sayin’.

amie2-logo-no-taglineThe online music store Amie Street is offering new users a $5 gift to get started with Amie Street if you click here to sign up.  Amie Street’s “community pricing” model makes it free or cheap to check out new bands, so $5 can go a long way.  You could download our album Time is Gravity plus other great records, such as our friend Quinn Raymond’s debut album, or the secretly released Ninth Street Mission debut album (featuring Adam Chimera, Quinn Raymond, Namrata Tripathi, and Karl Ward). And Amie Street is heavy on great NYC artists, including some Ghost Ghost favorites like The Hold Steady, Frances, The Walkmen, and Vampire Weekend. Go “check it out,” “hit it up,” or whatever the kids are doing these days.
